Virtual Host Network Accelerator (vHNA)
The 6WIND Virtual Host Network Accelerator (vHNA) is designed to facilitate the cloud-native transformation of service providers’ networks. It provides routing capabilities at the host level of Kubernetes nodes, enhancing network security through finer-grained access controls and network segment isolation.
Service Providers face challenges with Kubernetes in Telco environments, including inadequate performance and latency handling, network scalability issues, insufficient security and compliance features, and difficulties integrating with existing network technologies.

Delivering Performance in K8s Host Routing
The 6WIND vHNA bypasses the host kernel using SR-IOV to connect Kubernetes nodes to the switch fabric, optimizing performance.
It employs specialized CNIs to link vhost and veth interfaces to DPDK containers and the accelerated data plane, enhancing routing and data plane efficiency.

The 6WIND vHNA bypasses the host kernel and uses SR-IOV to connect Kubernetes nodes to the switch fabric.
vhost interfaces on the 6WIND vHNA are created with a specific CNI and connected to DPDK containers for best performance.
Standard veth interfaces are created with a specific CNI to directly connect them to the 6WIND vHNA’s accelerated data plane.
The 6WIND vHNA offers full routing capabilities with optimized and high-performance data plane acceleration.
